Lets talk App AO Holdings

Ghana Statistical Service, in partnership with GIZ, have launched special Mobile App for reporting Gender-Based Violence (GBV) dubbed “Let’s Talk”.

The App, designed to use Citizen-Generated Data (CGD) to help address Gender-based violence, was developed by AO Holdings, a leading digital transformation company in Ghana, with GIZ providing the financial and technical support in collaboration with the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS).

Let’s Talk App is leveraging technology and innovation to collect Citizen-Generated Data on Gender-based violence to reduce this menace in our communities. The objective of the Project is to explore the potential of CGD as a complementary data source for official statistics through pilot projects by exploring the use of CGD methodologies to collect data on GBV.

It is also to augment statistics production for evidence-based decision-making at the sub-national level and document and share learning with the National Statistical Systems in Ghana and beyond.

“Let’s talk” collects anonymous information on gender-based violence from survivors. The App is completely anonymous; it does not ask for your name or contact details. GBV reports are collected by

voice or text. Survivors of gender-based violence are provided with helplines and information for further engagements.

The Let’s Talk App can be accessed by downloading and installing it from the Google Play Store on an android smartphone. Non-smart (feature) phone users can also dial *800*818# for the “Let’s Talk” App and follow the operational instructions to submit a report on gender-based violence.
